Love Kingston is delighted to announce its new charity partnership with Kingston Pound for 2017. Through the partnership, Love Kingston will receive 1% from every K£ transaction: the more money spent using the local currency, the more that will be raised for our local communities.
The Kingston Pound (£K) is money made for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. One Kingston Pound is worth one Pound Sterling, but carries many other benefits. You can get Kingston Pounds either by purchasing them with sterling, accepting them as payment or as change from a member business.
Kingston Pounds can be spent with every business that joins the scheme. Account holders can also make online payments to other members. Trader membership is available to businesses that are independently owned and based in or around Kingston.
Kingston Pounds offer a powerful incentive for people to buy from local traders. They are not intended to fully replace sterling but work alongside it.
Both Kingston Pound and Love Kingston are dedicated to improving the sustainability of the local community, growing ties between business, the public and charities across the borough.
Sorrel Parsons, Fund Manager of Love Kingston says:
“Small local charities and community groups are working hard in the heart of our communities to give residents the help they need, when they need it – and Love Kingston is here to make sure this happens for years to come.
This perfect pairing of Kingston Pound and Love Kingston will help local independent businesses to flourish at the same time as building a pot of money available to local causes that often go under the radar of mass public attention. We urge more independents to join Kingston Pound and help build a thriving local economy that cares for everyone who lives, works and learns in Kingston.”
Andrew Connolly, Director and Co-Founder of Kingston Pound says:
“The Kingston Pound and Love Kingston share a love for the borough at the core of their beliefs. Loving and cherishing our local independent businesses means we cherish our borough.
“We are very much looking forward to our partnership in 2017 and hope that all K£ businesses will join us in our support of Love Kingston through Love Kingston Day on the 14 February”
