Love Kingston, a fund for charitable activity in the Royal Borough of Kingston welcomes the announcement by Councillor Julie Pickering, the newly installed Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston, that she will be supporting Love Kingston during her mayoral year.
Established in 2012, Love Kingston raises funds to support groups working with communities across the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, now and in the future. Our vision is a Kingston where local people and local businesses come together to support local need.
Mayor Pickering announced her support during an event on Tuesday May 16, which saw her installed in her role as Mayor. She will be joined in her duties by her husband, James and daughter Anna. Councillor Mike Head has been appointed as Deputy Mayor.
Mayor Julie Pickering, said:
Having worked closely with Kingston’s community and voluntary sector groups over the past few years, together building this fund is close to my heart. We have to ensure we support those locally that need our support and this is a Community fund to support the Community.
We have set a fundraising target to be nearing £1m by 2020, as I know how much people care about Kingston and I am confident that together, as a borough, we can do this.
Tessa Kind, Community Fundraising Manager for Love Kingston, said:
Love Kingston would like to congratulate Julie Pickering on her appointment to become Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. We are delighted that the Mayor chose to lend her support to us at Love Kingston. Our aims are united in building a borough where local people and local businesses come together to support local need. To do this we need to focus on engaging with residents, businesses and community groups and encourage them to invest in the future of our borough’s local giving activities, through the Love Kingston Fund.
We thank the Mayor for her decision to support Love Kingston and look forward to a happy and fruitful partnership.
